Acupuncture

At PhysioPhilosophy we use Acupuncture as an adjunct to treatment, mainly to reduce pain. The technique we use is based around the Western Medicine approach which is a therapeutic modality involving the insertion of fine needles. It is an adaptation of the Chinese Acupuncture using current knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology and the principles of evidence based medicine. It acts by stimulating the nervous system, improving blood flow to the area and triggering the activity of our body’s natural painkillers. The needles used are single use only, typically left in position for 20-25 minutes, they are individually packed and sterile.

Catriona has undertaken postgraduate qualifications to perform Acupuncture.
